Affiliate Marketing on BeReal: Yes or Pass?

It’s no secret that social media is very popular when it comes to affiliate marketing. Some affiliates do better on certain social platforms, while others thrive on completely different ones. And with so much variety available, there has to be at least one platform where you’re already crushing it and you’ve built a cool community.

Nowadays, everybody is on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok doing their thing. But what happens when something completely new and different comes along?

To Be or Not to BeReal

One social media app that has recently entered the scene and could have affiliate marketing potential is BeReal. There’s been a lot of buzz around BeReal, especially among young people…

BeReal is a photo sharing social media platform - but with a twist!

It focuses on authentic, unfiltered, and unscripted content. It aims to create a space where users can share their real-life experiences with others and engage in meaningful conversations.

As a newer app, BeReal is still growing its user base and figuring out its monetization strategy. However, its emphasis on real-life experiences and authenticity could make it an attractive platform for affiliate marketing.

BeReal Affiliate Marketing

BeReal won Apple’s “App of the Year” award in 2022, so it is a little bit promising…

One of the key advantages of using BeReal for affiliate marketing is its focus on user-generated content. Unlike other social media platforms that prioritize polished and curated content, BeReal encourages users to share unfiltered and unedited photos of their lives.

This creates a space where users can showcase offers and services in a more natural and organic way, without the need for a fancy photoshoot or edited images. Influencers and content creators can leverage this space to focus on authentically promoting products in a more genuine and relatable way to their audiences.

But there’s a catch…

At the time of writing this article, the app doesn’t support adding links to your posts, but you can add optimized & shortened URLs to your profile. It’s not ideal, but it’s a good start.

Also, there are no ads on the platform, which also adds a novelty feeling to the social app.

But honestly, only time will tell if the platform can keep up being ad free, and if this business model is a sustainable one long term.

Promoting Affiliate Offers on BeReal

So, by now, you’re probably aware that you can only do organic promotions on BeReal, and even those are limited. But since the platform is fairly new, and we don’t know for sure what direction it’s heading, you could create an account and start building a community, but don’t expect sales to skyrocket.

Joining BeReal is something you should do if you’re already having success on other social media apps but you also have the time to branch out, and the willingness to create content without expecting a big return, especially right away.

The cool thing about the app is that its photo-only feed gives an authentic glimpse of what the people are actually doing as they go about their day, so you can simply join and just go with the flow.

Another advantage of BeReal is its ability to create a sense of community and engagement. Apart from its feed, it also has a discover and explore page, similar to Instagram’s. This creates a space where users can engage with each other.

Additionally, the platform's focus on real-life experiences could make it a natural fit for product teases, allowing influencers, content creators and affiliates to showcase products in a way that feels much more authentic and trustworthy.

BeReal Challenges for Affiliate Marketers

There are quite a few potential challenges and limitations to using BeReal for affiliate marketing. For one, the platform is still relatively new and growing its user base. While it has the potential to become a popular social media app, it may take some time before it reaches the level of engagement and influence of other platforms like Instagram or TikTok

Additionally, the platform's focus on authenticity and unfiltered content may not be suitable for all types of promotions. Some products may require a more polished or professional presentation, which may not align with BeReal's ethos.

Another potential limitation of using BeReal for affiliate marketing is the platform's monetization strategy. Currently, BeReal does not offer any formal advertising or sponsorship opportunities for influencers or content creators.

While this could change in the future as the app grows, it means that affiliate marketers may need to be more creative in how they monetize their content on the platform. This could involve partnering with brands directly, leveraging affiliate links or codes, or using other monetization strategies like sponsored content or merchandise sales.

Verdict - BeReal for Affiliate Marketing: Yes or Pass?

In conclusion, BeReal is a social media app that could have potential for affiliate marketing, particularly for influencers and content creators who prioritize authenticity and unfiltered content. While the platform is still growing its user base and refining its monetization strategy, its emphasis on community and engagement could make it an attractive space for promoting products in an organic and relatable way.

However, there are also challenges and limitations to using BeReal for affiliate marketing. The platform's focus on unfiltered content may not be suitable for all types of promotions, and its lack of formal advertising or sponsorship opportunities could require more creativity in monetizing content.

Ultimately, whether or not BeReal is a worthwhile platform for affiliate marketing will depend on individual circumstances and goals. While it may not be the most established or lucrative platform at the moment, its potential for growth and community engagement make it worth considering for those who prioritize authenticity and building meaningful relationships with their audience.
